As computers have demonstrated their effectiveness in enhancing the convenience and speed of information processing, storage and sharing in all organizations, they have become the most significant components of educational infrastructure. The academic needs of all departments as well as the needs of administrative activities are satisfied by a large number of Personal Computers, most of them with high end processors (like Intel Core i5)
SNMV College of Arts & Science provides exceptional computer lab services and state-of-the-art computing resources in order to fulfill the academic needs of the student community. The Institution has seven computer labs with high-tech laptops, desktops and NComputing systems (Green Environment systems). 449 desktops and laptopsare networked through a Local Area Network (LAN). The campus is also Wi-Fi enabled which allowsthe faculty and students to utilizethe labs and department systems for concepts in the curriculum not only for courses related to the Computer Stream, but also for myriadother courses with computer based design and analysis.The computing facilities are continuously upgraded and modernized to keep up with the changing technology. The labs provide one-to-one access to students for a variety of peripherals.
The primary goal of the computer labs is to provide assistance to students that will enhance their chances of succeeding in technology-based learning and to provide access to equipment that will support the needs of instruction to accomplish their assigned task. The computer labs support the curriculum of the college, allows users to surf course related content and to complete the assignments of the instructors. The labs also allow the users to access updated software options to fulfill their scholarly research and supplementary requirements. To ensure a conducive technological approach for productivity, the computer labs strive to create a "learner-friendly" environment for the students. The computer centre is centrally air-conditioned and is backed up by high caliber UPS to ensure uninterrupted operation. Most labs are equipped with printers for physical output of information and provide access to the Centralized Network Printer. Moreover, the computer centre is upgraded from time to time to ensure that the facilities remain at par with the latest developments.
