Add On Course

Department of Physics Introduced Add on Course on NANOMEDICINE in the year 2015. It is a certificate course Approved by Bharathiyar University. It was contain two papers. They are Fundamentals of Nanoscience and Introductory Nanobiotechnology and Nanomedicine.

About Nanomedicine

Nanomedicine is at the forefront of modern healthcare. Nanoparticles offer a new platform for drug delivery that can extend the “patent life” of drugs, but also greatly increase the targeting and effectiveness of therapy. They can also enhance most of the medical imaging modalities, and in some cases offer a combined diagnostic and therapy, now called “theranostics”.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2016. The Chemistry Department provides the opportunity for an undergraduate student to obtain fundamental knowledge of all the fields of Chemistry. As an enabling science, chemistry is at the focal point of every important modern societal challenge. The untiring efforts of all the faculty members have enabled them to achieve significant growth. We have introduced certificate courses in Nanomedicine and mushroom cultivation. The department consists of highly experienced faculties who strive to provide quality education to students.

Course introduction

Chemistry can be understood fundamentally as the study of atoms and molecules. In this module, we will examine the experiments which reveal that all matter is composed of atoms which combine to form molecules. The clever analysis of these experiments illustrates scientific reasoning at its finest, allowing us to understand the existence and properties of particles which could not be directly observed. In addition, by measuring the relative masses of the different types of atoms, we can begin to predict the ratios of masses of reactants and products during a chemical reaction. To understand the types of compounds which can be formed and the properties of those compounds, we have to understand how atoms bond together to form molecules.

Job Opportunities

After doing B.Sc Chemistry, one can go for various jobs and also take up internships to prepare for industry level entries. Some of the jobs are as follows:

Analytical Chemist
Bio-medical Chemist
Chemical Engineering Associate
Industrial Research Scientist
Lab Chemist
Materials Technologist
Production Chemist

COURSE INTRODUCTION

Mathematics has held an established position among the humanities for more than 2,000 years. Mathematical knowledge, with old questions being answered and new ones asked, is growing at an unprecedented rate.

Here is a sample of some of the courses and topics you will study as a mathematics major at Wright State.

Calculus: Calculus is a cornerstone of analysis and an indispensable tool for most of the sciences and engineering. You will study three semesters of issues as diverse as the conservation of energy laws from physics and continuously compounded interest from banking.

Linear algebra: Algebra is critical to applications from management to structural engineering to telecommunications. You will study a semester’s worth of linear equations—but with the possibility of thousands of equations in thousands of unknowns—leading to abstract mathematical spaces.

Advanced courses: In Theory of Statistics you will apply multivariable calculus in probability and the mathematical foundations of statistical inference. Learn how to collect and analyze data in scientific and industrial experiments when you enroll in Statistical Methods and Introduction to Experimental Designs,

Computer science: If you are looking for mathematics courses with special significance in computer science, consider Applied Graph Theory. This course features mathematical models and algorithms you may someday apply to problems such as traffic systems, activity scheduling, and design layout. Others courses that are likely to apply to those seeking a career in computer science include Cryptography (how to encrypt data securely) and Coding Theory (how to send messages that self-correct transmission errors).

Physical sciences and engineering: You can take courses that emphasize mathematical theory and problem solving methods directed toward the physical sciences and engineering.

Partial differential equations involve several variables (e.g., both space and time) and describe, for instance, the propagation of electromagnetic waves through space and the flow of heat in solids.

Pure mathematics: You can understand the theoretical foundations of algebra, calculus, and other elementary courses while preparing more advanced topics in modern mathematics.

Sign up for Real Variables (or theoretical advanced calculus) to learn why the facts and computational methods learned in ordinary calculus are correct. Enroll in Modern Algebra and study abstract systems that include the familiar objects of school math (whole numbers, rational numbers, real numbers, etc.) as special cases Free electives: You are required to complete general education courses in history, English, economics, etc. Wright State's degree programs in mathematics also have a generous allotment of “free electives”—courses you can choose from essentially any area of the catalog. This is just one example of how we at Wright State listen to you and try to understand exactly what you are attempting to achieve.

SCOPE OF HIGHER EDUCATION & JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Are you interested in mathematics, and wonder what sort of jobs might be available to mathematics graduate? Of course you can opt a career in teaching but that's not the end! The scope of mathematics has no boundaries. In fact, you can do just about anything you want to do. Majoring in subjects like mathematics simply opens the doors to a wealth of opportunities!! You are indeed ensured of a bright future ahead. The rationale behind this is that mathematics form the foundation of thinking abilities. These subjects teach a person to be a good problem solver, and that is the key of reaching the pinnacle of success in any career. Finding the efficient ways to solve problems inherent in your job is also a skill developed through the study of mathematics. The problems do not have to be quantitative since critical thinking and mathematics go hand-in-hand.

The largest percentage of students who major in mathematics pursue careers in education. There has always been and will continue to be a high demand for teachers of mathematics in high schools, colleges etc. Many of the most desirable careers are technical in nature and require some expertise in the mathematical sciences. In fact, the three top jobs on the 2009 list were mathematician the study of mathematics achieved a trifecta!!

Mathematics has always been the language of science and technology. With the society becoming scientific at a rapid pace, it becomes all the more important to be able to speak and reason in that language. A recent study found that the top 15 highest-earning college degrees share one thing: mathematics. Of course, mathematics is more than just a useful tool. Many people enjoy mathematics for its own sake. They find deep satisfaction and indeed beauty in its order, precision and complex structures. Mathematics develops the skills of reasoning, developing new ideas and formulating new approaches and finally drawing logical conclusions. All these sills are sure to serve you well in the working world.

Some of the career opportunities available to a major in mathematics include:

Analysts:

Mathematics graduates have an immense scope of becoming analysts and that too in various domains. Some of the prominent domains include:

Research Analyst
Regional Analyst
National Analyst
Housing Analyst
Intelligence Analyst
Regional Intelligence Analyst

Operations Research:

The subject matter in this area, to a great extent is concerned with determining the optimal ways of doing things based on some mathematical model of a situation. Major mathematical tools that enter operations research are:
